How does this quiz decide?
It scores what she does, not what she says or how one evening felt. Effort that costs her something, like starting conversations, saying yes to plans and making time for you, carries the most weight, because it’s the hardest kind of interest to fake.
One warm moment can’t push you into “she likes you,” and one cold moment can’t push you out. That matters, because most men read women more pessimistically than they should. In a set of studies on what researchers call the liking gap, people who had just met consistently underestimated how much their conversation partner liked them, and the gap lasted for months.

What are the strongest signs she likes you?
She invests. The clearest signs take time and attention: she starts some of your conversations, asks you questions back, says yes to plans or offers another day, and remembers small things you told her.
- She asks follow-up questions. Harvard researchers who studied live conversations and speed dates found that people who asked more follow-up questions were better liked, and speed daters who asked them got more yeses to a second date (Huang et al., 2017). Curiosity about you is interest.
- She makes time. “I’m slammed this week, but Sunday works” is one of the best messages you can get. “I’m busy” with no alternative, three times in a row, is an answer.
- She starts things. Not always, but sometimes: a question, a meme, a photo of something that made her think of you.
Body language counts too, but less than effort. Friendly people make eye contact and smile with everyone.
Why do men miss the signs?
Mostly by missing real interest, not by inventing it. When researchers paired 52 couples of strangers for a ten-minute chat and asked both sides about flirting, flirting that actually happened was detected less accurately than its absence (Hall, Xing & Brooks).
People notice “nothing’s happening” easily and talk themselves out of “something’s happening.” That’s why this quiz asks about patterns over weeks. You’re probably not bad at reading her; you’re reading too few data points, too often, at 2 a.m.

What should you do with a mixed result?
Stop decoding and make one clear, low-pressure invitation. A specific plan (“Thursday, seven, that ramen place”) gives her an easy yes and gives you the clearest signal you’ll ever get.
If she says yes, the quiz stops mattering. If she says she’s busy and offers another time, that’s interest. If she says she’s busy and nothing else, step back and let her come to you. It’s the idea behind chapter 1.5 of the book: words lie, effort doesn’t.

Questions men ask
Is a “does she like me” quiz accurate?
Only as accurate as your answers. This one scores behavior you can observe over a few weeks, ignores single moments, and gives effort the most weight. Use it to choose your next move, not to read her mind.
How long should I watch for signs before I ask her out?
Two or three good conversations are usually enough. If she’s warm and responsive in those, ask her to something specific. Weeks of watching tend to turn a likely yes into a friendship.
What if she likes me but she’s shy?
Shy interest still shows up as effort: she replies with substance, accepts plans and stays in the conversation, even if she rarely starts it. Make the plan easy to say yes to, and let her show you.
She flirts with me but has a boyfriend. Does she like me?
Maybe, but she has told you she isn’t available, and that’s the part that counts. Treat the flirting as friendliness and put your attention where it can go somewhere.
