Is she a dry texter or not interested?
Look at what she does off the phone. A dry texter still says yes to plans, sometimes starts conversations and is warmer in person than in her messages. Someone losing interest is short everywhere: shorter replies, fewer plans and no questions back.
Texting simply isn’t where most people show interest. In a survey of 197 college students in relationships, more voice calls went with more love and commitment, while texting showed no significant link either way. Her texts are a poor window into how she feels.

What do the signs actually mean?
Questions and plans matter most. One-word replies on their own mean very little.
- She asks you things back. In speed-dating data, people who asked more questions, especially follow-ups, were liked more and got more second dates. A question back, however short, is effort.
- She says yes to meeting. The strongest signal there is. Dry texters still show up.
- Her replies are shrinking. A slow fade over two weeks says more than any single “k.”
How do you text a dry texter?
Text less and plan more. Use messages for logistics and save the real conversation for when you meet or talk.
Time together is what builds attraction. In live experiments, the more two strangers interacted, the more they liked each other, mostly because they felt understood. You can’t get that from a chat that runs on “haha.” A five-minute call often does more than a week of messages.

What if you’re the dry one?
Check your own messages first. “Hey, how was your day?” gives her nothing to answer except “good.” A specific question or a small story invites a real reply.
If her replies are slow as well as short, Should I text her? tells you whether to wait, and the double texting tool covers when one more message is fine. The Situation Finder has the first move for slow replies, and the texting guides cover the rest.
Questions men ask
What does dry texter mean?
A dry texter replies with short, flat messages: “lol,” “nice,” “yeah,” rarely a question back. It describes a style, not a feeling. Some people are warm in person and dull on the phone.
How do you text a dry texter?
Use texts for plans, not for building the connection. Ask one easy, specific question at a time, and move to a call or a date as soon as you can.
Can a dry texter still like you?
Yes. The tell is what she does off the phone: she says yes to plans, makes time and is warmer when you’re together. If all of those are missing too, it isn’t her texting style.
Am I the dry texter?
Check your last ten messages. If most are “hey, how’s your day?” or “haha,” she has nothing to work with. Specific questions and small stories get better replies.
