Ask her out: the exact words
Pick your situation and your style. Every line names a plan she can say yes to. Swap in a real place and day.
Great meeting you tonight. Want to continue this over a drink on Thursday?
This has been fun. Let’s swap the chat for a drink. Thursday at 7, at the bar on Main?
You mentioned you’ve never tried Ethiopian food. Let me fix that. Saturday lunch?
I’m better in person than over text, I promise. Coffee this weekend?
Ask once, clearly. If she says she’s busy and offers another day, take it. If she’s busy with no other day, leave the door open and let her come to you. Don’t ask a third time.

What's the best way to ask her out over text?
Name a plan with a day, a place and a rough time, in one short message. “We should hang out sometime” makes her do the planning and makes a vague answer easy. “Drink Thursday at 7 at the bar on Main?” gives her something real to say yes to.
You’re also probably more pessimistic than you need to be. In a series of studies, people underestimated by as much as 50% how likely others were to agree to a direct request. A clear ask gets more yeses than your nerves predict.

When is the right time to ask?
When the conversation is warm, ideally right after a good exchange. You don’t need certainty. Look for her asking questions back or mentioning things you could do together.
As a rough rule, ask within the first week of good conversation. After that, chats tend to drift into small talk, and every extra day makes the ask feel like a bigger deal than it is. You’re not proposing; you’re suggesting a drink.
If you’re not sure she’d say yes, Should I ask her out? walks you through it in five questions.
What if she says no or doesn't answer?
Accept it once and gracefully. A no handled well leaves a good impression; a second ask or a guilt trip doesn’t. If she simply doesn’t reply, the double texting tool tells you whether one follow-up is fine.
Keep it plain either way. In field experiments, women reacted more negatively to cute or flippant lines than to direct ones. A sincere invitation is the confident version.

What should you do after she says yes?
Confirm the details the day before and keep texting light until then. The date is where the real connection happens, so don’t try to build it all in messages first. The Situation Finder has more on asking without awkwardness, and what to text after a first date covers the message after. Need a lighter touch first? The flirty text generator helps.
Questions men ask
Is it OK to ask a girl out over text?
Yes. If texting is how you mostly talk, it’s the natural place to ask. In person is warmer when you see her often, but a clear text beats waiting for a perfect moment.
How long should I text before asking her out?
Usually a few days to a week of good conversation. Waiting much longer turns you into a pen pal, and the chat often fades before you ask.
What if she says she’s busy?
If she offers another day, take it. If she doesn’t, reply warmly once, “No worries, let me know if you’re free another time,” and let her come back to you.
Should I say the word date?
With a match, it’s implied. With a friend or coworker, yes: saying “date” or “just the two of us” avoids weeks of confusion.
