Why am I not getting matches?
Usually it’s your first photo, then your other photos, then your words, in that order. After that, check who you like and your settings. The diagnosis above walks through each one and stops at the first fix worth making.
Profile effort pays off more for men. In a study of Tinder behavior, women gathered matches quickly while men gathered them slowly, and a little effort grooming a profile went a long way, especially for male users.

Why does the first photo matter so much?
Because the decision is made in a glance. In experiments, judgments of a face after a tenth of a second correlated highly with judgments made with no time limit. Your first photo gets about that long.
Make it clear, well lit and friendly: your face, a real smile, no sunglasses, no group. Have someone else take it in daylight.
Then build the rest of the set around it. Add a full-body photo, one of you doing something you actually enjoy, and one with friends where you’re easy to spot. Cut anything blurry, heavily filtered or more than a couple of years old. A smaller set of good photos beats a big set with weak ones mixed in.
Is it your profile, or just the odds?
Sometimes it’s the odds. In a Pew survey, 64% of men who had dated online recently said they felt insecure about how few messages they received. Low numbers are common, not a verdict on you.
Who you like matters too. On dating sites, people tend to pursue partners about 25% more desirable than themselves, and reply rates fall as the gap widens. Like women you’d genuinely enjoy dating, not just the top of the stack.

What should you fix first?
Whatever the diagnosis names, then wait a week before changing anything else. Then check your words with the Hinge profile review or rebuild your bio with the dating profile examples. Once matches come in, use the Hinge opener generator or the Tinder opener generator. Want to work on the basics behind attraction? The attraction scorecard shows where to start. Questions men ask
Is it normal for men to get few matches?
Yes. Men usually get far fewer matches than women on swipe apps, and in surveys most men who date online say they’ve felt insecure about how few messages they get.
Should I pay for a boost to get more matches?
Fix your first photo and your words first. Paying to show a weak profile to more people mostly gets you more people swiping past it.
Should I reset my Tinder or Hinge account?
Only after you’ve fixed the profile. A fresh account with the same photos tends to get the same results.
How many photos should I use?
Enough to show your face clearly, your full build, and your life: usually five or six good ones beat nine mixed ones.
